Reflection for Unit 1 and Unit 2:

I Can Teach it and Do It

  • Solve a problem with exponents
  • Factor numbers
  • add and subtract whole numbers and decimals
  • Make a magnitude estimate
  • explain why its useful to make an estimate
  • Find the landmarks in data set: minimum, maximum, range, and mode
  • squaring and "unsquaring" numbers
  • Turn exponential notation into a regular multiplication problem and vice versa

I Can Do It

  • Find and Identify prime and composite numbers
  • Know the basic multiplication facts with rapid recall
  • Read and write whole numbers through billions and decimals through thousandths
  • Writing and open number sentence to represent a problem

I Need Practice

  • Use divisibility tests to find factors and divisors
  • convert between inches, feet, and yards

Reflection for Unit 3

I Can Teach It

  • Identify right, straight, reflex, obtuse, and acute angles
  • Use a protractor to measure angles
  • Identify right, Isosceles, equalateral, and scalene triangles
  • Use the geometry template to draw Isosceles, equlateral, and scalene triangles.
  • Identify polygons
  • make patterns that tessalate

I Can do

  • identify place value digits in numbers to billions

Reflection for Unit four (4)

I can teach it

  • measure and draw line segments to the nearest 1/2 inch
  • estimate distances using a map scale
  • write an open number sentance for number stories
  • determine what to do with a remainder

I Can Do It

  • divide using a friendly number strategy with the partial-quotients algorithm
  • know and use multiplication facts, related division facts, and extended facts
  • make magnitude estimates to correctly place the decimal point in quotients

I Need Practice

  • find multiples then use them to rename numbers
  • divide using an "at least..... not more then strategy with the partial- qoutients algortm

Reflection for Unit (6)

I Can Teach It

  • Read a stem and leaf plot
  • make a steam and leaf plot

I Can Do It

  • Find a common denminator
  • add and subtract fractions
  • round numbers (decimals)

I Need Practice

  • converting frations-decimals-percents

Reflection for Unit 7

I Can Teach It

  • Read and Understand Sientific Notation

I Can Do It

  • Understand and use exponatiol notation
  • add+sub negitave numbers

I Need Practice

  • Understand and use order of operations

Reflection for Unit 8

I Can Teach it:

  • convert among fractions, decimals, and percents
  • find common denominators

I Can do It:

  • order and compare fractions
  • use an algorithm to subtract mixed numbers with like denominators
  • use and algorithm to add mixed numbers
  • convert between fractions and mixed numbers and whole numbers
  • use an algorithm to multiply fractions and mixed numbers

I Need Practice:

  • find a percent of a number

Final refection in math for 5th grade

Same as in the Language Arts page, I guess I forgot some math units to reflect on above. Anyway, math was never really my best subject, it was ok and all, but i never really looked forward to it. even though, I feel like I learned a lot in 5th grade. some stuff that was totally new to me, and some stuff that i knew, but was just on a higher level. In the begging of the year, I reinforced some stuff i had learned in 4th grade, but that took a really quick time. Some units were harder then others, some were easier, but in the end of each one, I felt like i came out pretty well.
